Tour S - Shorter Romps Around Central Park and Harlem
On select Mondays, we give you two opportunities to experience half-length tours of Central Park,
Harlem, and surrounding areas. With either tour, you will get to experience the Centerpiece of Manhattan,
Central Park, as well as some of legendary Central Harlem.
Explore Central Park in its entirety and discover its forgotten neighbors
to the north, Harlem and Morningside Heights! On this tour, you will visit all of the most spectacular
sights the worlds most famous park has to offer: Strawberry Fields, the Great Lawn, Bethesda Fountain,
Sheep's Meadow, Tavern on the Green, the Obelisk - and some of its lesser known highlights: the Park's
hidden nooks to the north, including a magnificent waterfall, the Ghostbusters building, the mansions
along 5th Avenue, a tribute to the NYC Marathon and much, much more.
During this ride you will also have the opportunity to encounter the rich cultural and architectural
history of 21st Century Harlem. From there we will climb one of the most majestic natural cliffs on the
island, putting us in what used to be known as Harlem Heights. This neighborhood, more recently known as
Morningside Heights, is now home to Columbia University, some spectacularly massive churches, and the best
view overlooking Harlem one can find. And, what could be better than rolling through such a
prestigious college campus one a Monday morning-- here will have the chance to see how some of America's
brightest students start their week!
This tour begins with a ride up the East River with wonderful views of
what the Dutch referred to as Hellegat, what we now call Hell's Gate. As the "river" splits, we'll
continue North along the Harlem River and into Spanish Harlem, known to the locals as "El Barrio." The
energy you'll feel in this neighborhood is unlike any other and you'll understand how Salsa music has its
roots in the neighborhood. Minutes later, you'll be shocked at how quickly things change when you
encounter the well-manicured Conservatory Gardens of Central Park.
Before exploring the rest of the park (that will come later!), we'll head north into Central Harlem to
discover all it has to offer in its rich dichotomy-- beautiful brownstones, vibrant streets, remnants of
the past, and much much more. The last leg of the ride will travel back through a car-free Central Park
as we visit Strawberry Fields, the Reservoir made famous in Marathon Man, and people taking the
afternoon off of work early to enjoy everything the Park has to offer!
Each tour is approximately 6 miles, lasts about 3 hours, and costs $65. The cost includes the bike, the helmet, and a
licensed tour guide ($10 less with your own bike).

Note: after we receive your payment, you will receive an email with the full details of your tour within about 24 hours.
