Two decades ago, being in Central Park at night was flat-out crazy! But thankfully that era is over, and now, on this special night bike tour, you can experience the breathtaking beauty and serene pleasure known to just a handful of locals.
After dark, the throngs of people from all over the city — and all over the world — have retreated back to their homes and hotels. What remain are some spandex-clad bikers and joggers enjoying an evening workout — and us! (There are a few other types of after-dark park users — if the US Census is correct....)
In the dark (but still safely lit), the park’s iconic sights take on a new tranquility and aura. We’ll take in beautiful vistas including marvellous skylines and moonlit lakes.
But that's not all! Beyond the park’s walls, we’ll explore the neighborhood of Morningside Heights, home to the city’s “other” cathedral as well as New York City’s only “Ivy League” university. Here, the city’s best and brightest students are no doubt in their dormitories and apartments studying completely free of distractions (yeah, right!). We’ll have this more-than-a-century-old campus practically to ourselves and take in the distinguished elegance of its glorious buildings, lawns, and outdoor sculptures, gracefully illuminated.
Back in the park, we will finish up with a late-night encounter with “Strawberry Fields” and experience first-hand the original designation of the space as a “quiet zone.” After this tour, you are bound to feel refreshed and rejuvenated by your time with us in the oasis that is Central Park at night.
This tour lasts about 4 hours. It tour meets select Wednesday evenings - and by special request, at 7:00 pm, from the Upper East Side of Manhattan (near the 68th street on the #6 subway) (precise address will be given after booking is made). $85 includes the bikes, helmets, and our awesome licensed guides.
